The “Girls on Guard” workshop presented by Gwyn Nickens at Obama Academy is reflective of her outstanding and very engaging skills as an instructor. Her pristine techniques demonstrated to the senior girls made them eager to participate in the workshop. The student’s were very impressed with Ms. Nickens and expressed interest in pursue more self defense classes with her.

The class was very comprehensive and offered great information and valuable tips to stay safe even before the physical portion began. The physical portion taught us maneuvers that were extremely effective. I was very happy with the class!

My daughter and I attended Gwyn’s class. It was very informative and eye-opening. I feel more confident when walking alone and more knowledgeable of how to handle myself when I feel threatened. I really appreciated Gwyn’s personal attention. Gwyn was able to give me tips to perform the moves fluently. I highly recommend any woman to take the class and learn how to effectively take control of any situation.
